Who doesn't love a good fiesta in the morning?!?!
If you are any thing like me, you probably have a few go to recipes you tend to eat for breakfast over and over and over again. Bacon and eggs. Oatmeal. Some sort of omelette creation. Or any number of the other amazing breakfast foods that are out there. However, every once in a while, I want something a little bit different to spice up my breakfast menu. That's where this super simple breakfast casserole comes into play. I have a confession to make.
This is something I have struggled with for years. It's not something I am proud of. In fact, I've almost joined a few support groups for this. It's something that can have a huge impact on the people around me. Cause them to lose sleep and start avoiding me in certain situations. And maybe not even want to be in the same room as me anymore. I don't think I've ever actually admitted this before. Ok, here it goes.
I'm a huge, huge fan of taco salads. They are definitely one of my all time favorite lunches. I do still enjoy a good old grilled chicken salad too, but there is just something about a taco salad that makes it seem a little more exciting.
It's like a lunch fiesta and I love to party! A few years ago I was making taco meat for my salads and I actually flipped the seasoning packet over to look at the ingredients. I was slightly horrified. Monosodium glutamate (MSG). Soybean oil (inflammatory fats). And enough sodium to instantly raise my blood pressure a few points (slight exaggeration, but not by much). I had been using these seasoning packets my whole life and never really bothered to think about this. As soon as I saw all the crap that goes into one of these packets, I set out to find a better solution.
Do you like chocolate?
Awesome, me too! Do you like bananas? Sweet. This is going well! Do you like quick easy breakfast ideas that are healthy, delicious, and perfect for a post work-out meal? Great! Did we just become best friends? YEP! One of the single biggest obstacles people always talk to me about in terms of staying consistent with eating healthy is time. They get rushed in the morning and don't have time to make anything healthy. They didn't meal prep enough for the week and get caught having to eat out for lunch and dinner. Or they are just simply drained after a hard day of work and don't want to cook anything.
If this isn't the perfect time of year to bust out a good chili recipe then I don't know when is. Snow and ice are everywhere, the temperatures are frigid, and driving around town has been an absolute nightmare. We might as well enjoy a nice hot bowl of chili!
Well isn't this exciting!
The Polar Vortex teamed up with Snowmageddon has forced schools and businesses to close for 4 straight days. I can't remember this ever happening before. On top of that, we have Amber Alerts going out telling us to turn DOWN our heat. I completely understand the situation, but it's still rather insane and completely ironic. Oh well, what can you do? You can workout inside is what you can do! I have created another body weight only workout that you can do in the comfort of your very own freezing home. Let's get into the details. With snowmageddon upon us and arctic temperatures making us seriously consider why we freely choose to live here, I wanted to at least give people the opportunity to get in a good workout today.
I’ve designed 2 - 10 minute circuits you can do at home with nothing but your body-weight. I know a lot of people have a few pieces of equipment at home, so if you can think of ways to incorporate those into the workout, great. If you have no equipment at home, absolutely no worries. This will be a good workout regardless. I recommend getting a good playlist ready to go, take a look at all the exercises before you start, and have a way to time some intervals for the second part of the workout. There are plenty of apps that can do that, or simply the stopwatch on your phone will do the trick. Let’s get into the workout!!! |
